When you get a new device and start up Windows 10 for the first time, the antivirus protection that comes installed with the device is your default security app.

Windows Security provides built-in security options to help protect your device from malicious software attacks. To access the features described below, tap the Windows Start button, type windows security, select it from the results, and then select Device security.

To do this. Press. Move to the Tell me or Search field on the ribbon and type a search term for assistance or Help content.. Alt+Q, then enter the search term. Open the File menu.. Alt+F. Open the Home tab and format text and numbers and use the Find tool.. Alt+H. Open the Insert tab and insert PivotTables, charts, add-ins, Sparklines, pictures, shapes, headers, or text boxes.

Switch Real-time protection to Off.Note that scheduled scans will continue to run. However, files that are downloaded or installed will not be scanned until the next scheduled scan.

As you browse the web, you'll see an icon in the address bar that indicates the security of the connection to the site you're visiting. This icon helps you determine if you can safely send and receive information from the site.

Notes: Some users won’t see the notification for the first hour after a Windows Update due to their notification settings.
