File storage in Microsoft Teams

Access files in Teams for desktop

Select OneDrive  on the leftmost side of Teams to access your files. In OneDrive, you can search and filter files to find the ones you need. 

Files in channels and chats

Files you upload to a channel are stored in your team's SharePoint folder. These files are available in the Shared tab at the top of each channel.

Files you send in chat are stored in your OneDrive for Business and only shared with the people in that conversation. You can find them in the Shared tab at the top of a chat.

To access SharePoint files and folders for a channel:

1. From Chat  or Teams , go to the channel you want to view files in.
2. Tap Files.

To access files and folders from a chat:

1. Tap Chat  in Teams.
2. Tap the chat you want to view files in.
3. Tap the name of the chat or person you're chatting with at the top of the conversation.
4. Under Files, tap See all. 

To upload files in Teams:

1. Tap More in Teams.
2. Tap Files > OneDrive .
3. Tap Add  > Files.
4. Select a file and tap Open.
