Customize your avatar in Microsoft Teams

Choose how you're represented in Teams meetings with a wide range of body shapes, facial features, and fine-tuning options. Then select your favorite hair styles, wardrobe, make-up options, and more. Save up to three avatars for different meeting types such as casual, professional, or day-to-day.

Note: The same avatars that you create are also the ones you can use when joining an immersive space from a Teams meeting or a Microsoft Mesh experience

Adjust your avatar body shape

To the left of the avatar, select any shape option from the palette of options. 

Tip: Selecting the slider button will customize your current body shape. You can begin by selecting a body shape preset and clicking the slider button to fine tune it.  

  1. Select the slider button.

  2. Drag the slider for a selected body area to adjust the proportions. To see more options, use the arrows below the slider.

  3. Do one of the following to return to the main Body Shape view:

  • If you’re satisfied with your choices, select Apply.  

  • If you want to cancel your choices and begin again, select Discard.  

Adjust your avatar skin color

Select the Skin Tone button in the Body tab. Select a tone or adjust it with the slider at the bottom.

Adjust your avatar facial features

  1. In the Face section, start by selecting a base face shape, then use the slider to fine-tune facial features. Use the arrows to page through the additional facial features to customize, including Cranium width/height, Cheek Bone width and fullness, and Cheek Fullness

  2. Under the Face tab, select Eyes to customize eye shape with the slider. Select the custom color wheel button to choose an eye color. Once you select a color preset, use the slider bar at the bottom to adjust for lightness or darkness.

  3. In the other sections of the left Face menu, choose Nose, Mouth, and Ears to customize facial features. Select Save to lock in your choices or Discard to start over.

Change your avatar hair 

  1. Go to the Hair tab, then customize your avatar’s Hair Style, Facial Hair, and Eyebrow. For example, in Hair Style, filter for short or long hair styles by selecting the filter button.

  2. Select Save.

Apply makeup to your avatar 

Apply makeup and wrinkles to your avatar's face in the Appearance tab. You can apply Lipstick, Blush, Eyeshadow, Eyeliner, Face Lines, and Bindi to the avatar.

Dress your avatar

In the Wardrobe tab, select from options for Underlayer, Outerwear, Hats, and Glasses to dress your avatar.

Filters

To help you quickly find your desired styles, filtering is available for the Hair, Underlayer, Outerwear, and Headgear sections.

Zoom in/out of your avatar preview 

As you're customizing your avatar, use the scroll wheel of your mouse to zoom in or out on your avatar preview. 

Rotate your avatar preview 

Select the avatar preview, hold down your left mouse button, and drag your mouse to rotate your avatar preview to see how it looks from different angles.
