Manage app passwords for a work or school account

An app password lets an older app that doesn’t support two-step verification, such as Outlook 2010, sign in to your work or school account. App passwords are available only if your administrator allows them.

To create an app password:

  1. Sign in to your work or school account at myaccount.microsoft.com.

    Sign in

  2. Select Security info > Add method > App password.
  3. Name the app, select Next, then copy the generated password into the app.
  4. Select Done.

Tip

You can have up to 40 app passwords at a time. To delete an app password, select Delete next to it on the Security info page. Deleted passwords can't be recovered.
