Not getting the battery life you're used to on your Surface? You might need to make some small adjustments:
- Turn on the Battery saver. In the taskbar search box, type battery saver and select Battery saver settings from the results. Select Turn battery saver on automatically if my battery falls below, and move the slider further to the right for longer battery life.
- Make sure you have the latest updates from Windows. Go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update then select Check for updates.
- Choose a power mode that supports your needs. To switch to a different power mode, select the battery icon in the Windows taskbar. If you want to save power to write an email or finish a movie, move the slider to a lower setting, like Recommended or Battery saver. Or, if you need better performance for playing a game or using a Windows Mixed Reality headset, move the slider to a higher setting like Best performance.
- Run the power troubleshooter. In the taskbar, search for troubleshoot, and choose troubleshoot settings from the results. Select Power > Run the troubleshooter, and follow the directions.
