Now available in Frontier, Planner Agent chat transforms how you work in Planner by turning your plan into an interactive, AI-powered workspace.

With chat in basic plans, you can quickly get answers, generate content, and guide work using simple prompts - helping you spend less time navigating your plan and more time making progress.

In basic plans, chat provides a flexible way to:

  • Ask questions about your plan

  • Understand risks and priorities

  • Generate tasks or full plans

  • Update tasks quickly

You can use chat at any point while working in your plan.

Requirements

To use Planner Agent chat in basic plans:

Access Planner agent chat

To open chat:

  1. Create or open a basic plan in Planner

  2. Select the Copilot button in the bottom right corner of your plan

From chat, you can also add context such as files or supporting materials to improve the agent’s responses.

Use chat to work with your plan

You can use Planner Agent chat to guide work across your plan in real time.

Ask questions about your plan

Use chat to quickly understand the state of your work. Examples include:

  • “What are my highest priority tasks?”

  • “Summarize progress this week.”

  • “What tasks are blocked?”

Planner Agent synthesizes information from your plan to provide a response and will automatically filter your view so focus stays on the tasks most important in the moment.

Note

This AI generated filter does not change your plan - it temporarily adjusts your view to help you focus on the most relevant tasks.You can toggle this filter on or off at any time by clicking on the AI filter pill. Or, if you’d like to remove it completely, select the X. You will need to reprompt the agent if you would like to bring the same AI filter back in the future.

Generate or update content

You can prompt the agent to help create or refine plan content, such as:

  • Drafting new tasks or breaking down work

  • Creating summaries or reports

  • Revising outputs based on feedback

Planner Agent uses your plan context to generate relevant outputs.

Tips for effective prompts

To get the best results from Planner Agent chat:

  • Be specific about what you would like the agent to do. The more details that are provided, the more likely the output will meet your expectations.

  • Include relevant context or files when needed. To reference this context, Type / in your prompt and start entering a file name. The agent will show relevant files you can select to ground your response in that content.

  • Iterate with follow-up prompts to refine the output

Providing more context can improve the accuracy and relevance of results.
