Add Planner to private and shared Teams channels

In addition to standard channels, you can now add Planner as a tab in private and shared Teams channels. Create a new unified plan or select an existing plan shared with the group associated with the channel.

Work with larger plans in Copilot

Planner Agent in Copilot Chat can now find relevant tasks and use more context from large and complex plans, with faster responses and more reliable task creation and saving.

Planner Agent can now generate initial task lists without the previous 30-task limit. Review the proposed tasks in Copilot before saving them to a plan.

A refreshed experience for government cloud customers

Planner customers in Government Community Cloud (GCC) and GCC High have a refreshed design with improved spacing and less visual clutter. Goals view is also available in unified plans.

Turn an existing group-backed unified plan into a custom template. Choose which plan details to copy, including goals, buckets, labels, notes, checklists, and attachments, then share the template with a Microsoft 365 group.

Open task details in a side pane alongside Board, Grid, or My Tasks. Update assignments, dates, notes, and checklists while keeping the rest of your work visible.

Manage work with Planner Agent in Microsoft Copilot

Planner Agent in Microsoft Copilot is generally available. Ask questions about your work and create or update tasks using natural-language prompts.

Interactive task cards let you review and act on work without leaving Copilot. Use the plan picker to search and filter your recently opened unified plans by name, then update a task's name, status, due date, or priority.

AI-generated plans, tasks, and updates are presented in draft mode so you can review, edit, and approve them before they are applied.

Connect Planner to custom agent workflows

Microsoft Planner MCP Server is generally available as part of the Work IQ APIs. Organizations can build custom agents to manage work across plans, provide status reports, and automate plan updates and follow-ups.

Enable the Work IQ API in your tenant before using the server. The server currently supports unified plans; premium capabilities such as dependencies, task history, and custom fields aren't supported.

Project Manager Agent has a new name: Planner Agent.

Planner Agent is available in unified plans shared with a Microsoft 365 group. Assign tasks to the agent for execution and generate status reports for your plan.
