How to open Copilot Chat
You can access the Copilot Chat experience in several ways:

Use it in the web, mobile, and desktop versions of the Microsoft 365 Copilot app and Microsoft 365 apps, like Teams and Outlook.

Access Copilot Chat on the web.
Ready to ask questions to Copilot Chat?

Open Copilot Chat and sign in with your work or school account.

In the Message Copilot compose box, enter your prompt.

When you're done, select Send.

Here are some examples where Copilot can quickly retrieve the information you need, along with suggested prompts to get the information.

You want simple questions answered quickly, using information buried in your organization's data.

Where does Microsoft 365 Copilot get its information?
If you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription, you can choose Work mode for Copilot responses based on your enterprise data or Web mode for Copilot responses based on broader internet searches.
If you don't have a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription, your prompts are always limited to the web because Copilot doesn't have access to any of your work data. With a web search, Copilot Chat will fetch information from the Bing search service to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date responses.
