DAX Copilot uses default settings to generate a clinical note, but one size does not fit all. For instance, do you prefer:

  • Concise or detailed?

  • Structured or narrative?

  • Paragraphs or bulleted lists?

  • Formal or patient-friendly?

Customize your style settings so DAX Copilot applies personal preferences to your notes.

Note: The style wizard is available only in the desktop app. Once you've set your preferences, you can apply your style in both the mobile and desktop versions.

Customize your note styles

If you are a new user and have not yet set your style preferences, select Configure my style in the AI capabilities menu.

  1. Select Configure my style in the AI capabilities menu to open the style wizard and personalize your preferences. The button text changes to Apply my style.

  2. Select Apply my style to manually apply your saved preferences when needed.

  3. Toggle Auto-run: my styleON to automatically apply your style to all new recordings.

  4. To update your preferences later, open the Settings menu via the icon and navigate to the style wizard.

Access the style wizard from Settings

You can also access the style wizard from the Settings menu. To open it, select Manage my style.

Note: If you haven’t set any preferences yet, the option appears as Configure my style.

Choose your style preferences

Select Manage my style and choose from the available style options. Your selections are saved automatically and take effect next time you record a note and apply your style, either automatically or manually.

Use the style wizard to choose your preferences for each section. If you don't like the default selections, choose an alternative style that better accommodates your needs. Your selections in the wizard become your default settings.

  • The styles More concise, Date, Time, and Patient pronouns apply to all sections.

  • Many report sections offer similar options, such as paragraph format and bulleted lists.

  • The History of Present Illness section includes unique options including the ability to specify the type of language used (formal, patient-friendly, etc.) and to format the section using the OLDCARTS structure.

  • The Allergies, Physical Exam, and Assessment and Plan sections feature a customizable template option. Learn about customizable templates in DAX Copilot.

Return to the My style screen to update your style preferences at any time or select Reset defaults to undo your style selections.

Apply your style

Styles minimize the time you spend editing and can be applied to your note either automatically or manually.

Apply your style automatically

There are two ways to automatically apply style preferences to new recordings:

Method 1: Open Settings and toggle Auto-run to ON.

Note: Styles are applied automatically each time you create a recording or you add a new recording to an encounter. If you want to re-apply a style, or apply your styles on-demand, follow the guidance to apply your style manually below.

Apply your style manually

Keep Auto-run turned off if you do not want styles to be applied automatically and you only want to apply your style preferences on-demand.

To apply your style manually, select Apply my style in the Copilot menu  copilot logo whenever you want to apply your styles to a note. This gives you full control to apply formatting when you need it. You can always switch to auto-run if you change your mind.
