In Teams, you can remove chats from your chat list in different ways.
Each option has a different result.
Hide a chat: Temporarily remove a one‑on‑one chat from your list. You can find it again by searching.
Remove chat history: Remove a one‑on‑one chat from your list and search. This affects only you.
Leave a chat: Leave a group or meeting chat so it no longer appears in your list and you can’t send messages.

Hide one-on-one chats:
- In your list of chats and channels, select the one-on-one chat you want to change.
- Select More options
> Hide
to no longer see the chat.
Remove chat history in one-on-one chats:
When you remove chat history:
- It applies only to you.
- The other person still sees the chat.
- You can’t access the chat again, including through search.
- In your list of chats and channels, select the one-on-one chat you want to remove.
- Select More options
> Remove chat history
to remove the chat from your list.
Leave a group or meeting chat:
- Select the chat you want to change and select More options
> Leave
. - Select the check box to confirm that you want to remove chat history from your chat and search lists when you leave. Select Leave.
If you're a meeting owner, you can't delete or leave the meeting chat. However, if you're a participant in the meeting chat, you can delete or leave it.
