Get started with DAX Copilot for Epic

First, ensure that DAX Copilot SmartSections are added to your note
To view the AI summaries that DAX Copilot generates from your recordings, your note in Epic Hyperdrive must contain one or more of the DAX Copilot SmartSections. You can select a current SmartPhrase that already includes the DAX Copilot SmartSections, or add them manually to a personal SmartPhrase or a note using one of these dot phrases:

Record your first patient encounter

Open Epic Haiku or Canto on your mobile device and select a patient.

Tap DAX Copilot at the bottom of the screen.

Confirm consent before you begin recording when a patient is present per your organization’s guidelines.

Tap the ambient recording button. Tap the same button to stop the recording.

Use DAX Copilot to record clinical information related to the encounter before, during, or after the patient encounter—and it will update the appropriate SmartSections.
Tip: Start your first recording with key patient identifiers (e.g., name, age, gender, pronoun, reason for visit).
Open DAX Copilot in Epic
Open DAX Copilot to review and personalize the format of your note summaries, use advanced AI features to ensure your summaries are accurate and complete as possible, and access support and training.

Navigate to the note. When DAX Copilot finishes processing your recording(s), an alert appears in Hyperdrive. Select Go to Note in the alert to open the Epic Notes activity or navigate to the Notes activity in Epic manually.

Launch DAX Copilot. Locate a DAX Copilot SmartSection, such as HPI or A&P, and select DAX Copilot from the Actions menu.
The embedded DAX Copilot window opens within the EHR, where you will have access to powerful new AI tools.
Get oriented

Use the Session tabs to navigate through a patient session.Timeline is the default view when you open Dragon Copilot.Note is where you will find the clinical summary of your patient visit.Orders will capture directives pertaining to medications, laboratory tests, x-rays and imaging, and procedures.Transcriptis a written version of the conversation between you and the patient.

Access settings and more in the upper-right corner of the screen. These contain useful tools with resources and configuration settings.
Help and resources. Access settings for ambient recording language, Auto-style, microphone, general, style and format, Library, profile and more. Open session details. Open split view display. -
Quick AI actions are available in the bottom section of DAX Copilot. Select the library icon
or one of the quick AI action buttons to apply your preferred style to your note or launch an AI action. Learn more
Set your specialty for better notes
When you select a specialty, your generated notes are optimized for your clinical specialty by default. Set your primary specialty in Settings > Profile.
