Manage town hall recordings in Microsoft Teams

Record a town hall
By default, town hall recordings will start automatically when the town hall starts. To learn more, see Host a town hall in Microsoft Teams. You can also change your town hall settings to start town hall recordings manually.
Record a town hall manually
If you want to record a town hall manually, first turn off automatic recording before the event starts. Then:

Select More actions in your meeting controls.

Select Record and transcribe > Start recording .
When you select Start recording , the meeting transcription will start automatically.
Change town hall recording settings
Turn off automatic recording
If you want to record a town hall manually, or if you don't want to record it at all, turn off automatic recording in the town hall settings before the event starts.
To turn off automatic recording for a town hall:

Go to your Teams Calendar.

Open your upcoming town hall.

In Details, select Meeting options .

Turn the Record and transcribe automatically toggle off.

Select Apply.
Manage who can record a town hall
If you turn off automatic recording for a town hall, you can manage permissions for starting town hall recordings.
To manage who can record a town hall:

Go to your Teams Calendar.

Open your upcoming town hall.

In Details, select Meeting options .

In Who can Record and Transcribe, select the dropdown menu to choose who can start a town hall recording or transcription.
Note: Meeting role, your org's license, and admin policy determine who can record and transcribe.

Select Apply.
Stop recording a town hall
To stop recording during a town hall:

Select More actions in your meeting controls.

Select Record and transcribe > Stop recording .

Select Stop.
When you stop recording, the meeting transcription will also stop.
Access a town hall recording
When you record a town hall, the recording will be ready after the recording is stopped or when the event ends for everyone. You and attendees can access the town hall recording by opening the town hall chat and selecting the Recap tab.

Extend town hall recording access
By default, town hall recordings will expire but you can extend them. To extend a town hall recording:

Go to OneDrive in Teams.

Hover over the town hall recording and select Share .

Select Link settings .

Under More settings, select the expiration date.

Choose a new recording expiration date and select Apply.
Download a town hall recording
Download a town hall recording to keep it on your device and prevent losing access to it.
To download a town hall:

Go to OneDrive in Teams.

Select a recording to open it in your browser.
-
Select More actions > Download .
Manage access to a town hall recording
Choose who can have access to a town hall recording, whether others can download or edit a recording, and when a recording expires.
To access recording settings:

Go to OneDrive in Teams.

Hover over the town hall recording and select Share .

Select Link settings .
-
Select Apply when you've updated your town hall recording preferences.
