Copilot in Excel helps you turn data into visuals and bring the important parts forward. Ask Copilot to create charts and PivotTables, or to highlight, sort, and filter your data. Use the prompt ideas in this article as starting points.
To open Copilot, select the Copilot icon in the lower-right corner of Excel, or select Home > Copilot on the ribbon. If you're new to Copilot in Excel, see Get started with Copilot in Excel.

Create charts
If you have data you want to view as a chart, Copilot can create one for you. Describe the chart you want, and Copilot generates it.
Create a chart with vendor budget on the X axis and headcount on the Y axis.
Create a line chart showing change over time. Show data labels and gridlines.
Show a chart comparing position in range to diversity statistics such as generation, ethnicity, and gender.
Create PivotTables
When you want to summarize a large data set, Copilot can build a PivotTable without the manual steps. The more detail you include, the more useful the result. If a suggestion doesn't match what you want, add more detail and ask Copilot to generate again.

Create a PivotTable with the sum of sales, with month in rows and category in columns.
Highlight, sort, and filter
Copilot can call attention to what matters by highlighting, sorting, and filtering your data. Copilot describes the change in the chat pane, and you select Apply to see it in your sheet.
Bold the top 10 values.
Highlight the lowest values in units sold.
Sort engagement rate from lowest to highest.
Filter to show items that are due next week.
