Host an event from a Microsoft Teams Room (MTR)
Host hybrid event experiences from a Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) to engage with event attendees and presenters both remotely and in person.

Note:Â This guide details the hosting experience from a Windows device. Microsoft Teams Rooms for Android doesn't currently support the presenter experience.
Add an MTR to an event
When you add an MTR to an event, you can either add it as a presenter or an attendee.

When you add an MTR as an attendee, attendees in the room will be able to see the event on the room display just as it would appear on their personal devices.

When you add an MTR as a presenter, you’ll have a full control panel and can manage on-screen participants using the MTR console. You’ll also be able to switch between presenter and attendee views during the event.
Add an MTR to a town hall
New calendar:

Select the dropdown arrow next to NewÂ

In Details, add the MTR to the Presenters from your org field.

Adding the MTR to the Location field will autofill it in the Presenters from your org field as well.

Add an MTR to a webinar
New calendar:

Select the dropdown arrow next to New

Select Webinar

In Setup > Details, add the MTR in the Presenters from your org field.

Adding the MTR to the Location field will autofill it in the Presenters from your org field as well.

Join an event from an MTR
To join an event from an MTR, find the event on the console and select Join.

Prepare in the green room
If the MTR was added as an organizer, co-organizer, or presenter, you’ll first join the green room until the event starts.
While you’re in the green room, test your video and audio equipment, practice sharing content, and prepare event plans with other presenters.
To start the event, select Start meeting on the console.Â

Presenter and attendee views
If you add the MTR as a presenter, you’ll be able to switch between presenter and attendee views during the event. When you switch views, the controls on the front-of-room display will change. The controls on the MTR console will stay the same.Â
To switch views, select Switch to presenter view or Switch to attendee view on the MTR console.

In attendee view (default), the front-of-room display will show the live event feed, the event chat, and meeting controls.

Tip: If you’re in an MTR where both presenters and attendees are present, switch to Attendee view to hide the presenter controls on the front display. Ask presenters in the room to join on their personal devices to manage the screen.

In presenter view, the front-of-room display will show the live event feed, the event chat, and meeting controls. It will also show the Manage screen queue where presenters are brought on and off screen, as well as a red square around the live feed to indicate what attendees are currently seeing.

Bring presenters on and off screen directly from the MTR console during the event.
To bring a presenter on the screen:​​​​​​​

Select their name in the Presenters pane.

Select Bring on screen

To take a presenter off the screen:​​​​​​​

Select their name in the Presenters pane.
