Sign a report
You can sign a report using any of the following methods.
- Select Sign from the menu.
- Use the voice command Sign report.
- Press the F12 keyboard shortcut.
- Use the designated button on your recording device.
Depending on your system or personal preference settings, you may see alerts, warnings, or a confirmation dialog before the report closes.
Note
The Grace Period allows you to reopen a recently signed report from the Signed Today queue, make any needed edits, and sign it again before it is sent to your EMR/EHR. For more information, see grace period.
Prompts after signing
Based on your site’s configuration, PowerScribe One may display different alerts after you sign a report. Most alerts are customizable at the account level by selecting Preferences.
Prompt on GUI
You will receive a prompt to confirm your signature. Selecting Yes will close the report and place it in the queue to send the final report—via the HL7 interface—to the EMR/EHR. Selecting No will cancel the finalization process and keep the report open for further editing.
SpellCheck
After you sign the report, the Spellcheck process will automatically run (if enabled in your system settings). If misspelled words are detected, the Spelling dialog box opens and highlights any words that need correction or that are not found in the active dictionary. You can choose Ignore or Ignore All to bypass flagged words. You can also add commonly used words to your dictionary to prevent them from being flagged in the future. To learn more, see Use Spellcheck.
Unfilled fields
If any fill-in fields are empty when you sign a report, a warning prompt will appear to let you know that the report contains unfilled fill-in or merge fields. Selecting Yes acknowledges the warning, closes the report, and places it in the queue to send the final report to the EMR/EHR (via the HL7 interface). Selecting No stops the finalization process and keeps the report open so you can fill in the missing fields before completing your reporting.
Unreported exams
If there are unreported exams for the patient, the system will display a prompt to notify you of the open orders when you sign (or approve) a report. This occurs when unreported orders are present and are not filtered out by your Open Orders property match or Open Orders Maximum Age preferences. You may choose to add one or more of the open orders to the report before signing or approving. The warning applies only to the Open Orders that were visible when the report was first opened.
