In Microsoft Project Web App, an enterprise project type (EPT) represents a wrapper that encapsulates phases, stages, a single workflow, and Project Detail Pages (PDPs). Each EPT represents a single project type. Normally, project types are aligned with individual departments: for example, marketing projects, IT projects, or HR projects. Using project types helps categorize projects within the same organization that have a similar project life cycle. For a user, the EPTs appear in a drop-down list of project types when the user clicks New Project on the ribbon in Project Web App.
To create a new enterprise project type:

On the PWA home page, click Server Settings.

On the Server Settings page, in the Workflow and Project Detail Pages section, click Enterprise Project Types.

Click New Enterprise Project Type. In the Name box, enter a name for the type, and then provide a brief description in the Description box.

If you want to generate a Project ID for each project created by this EPT, do the following in the Project ID section :

In the Prefix field, enter characters that will be at the start of each generated Project ID. For example, you may want the Project ID for projects created through the Finance Department EPT to begin with FIN_. This field is optional.

In the Starting Number field, enter a number that will serve as a starting point for Project IDs that are going to be generated for this EPT. For example, enter 10001 if you want the first Project ID to be 10001. This field is required.

In the Postfix field, you can enter characters that can be used to append your Project IDs that are generated by this EPT. For example, if this EPT is used to create only high-risk projects for the Finance department, you could enter _HR. This field is optional.

In the Minimum Digit Padding field, enter a number that will be used to increment the Starting Number for newly generated Project IDs. For example, if you enter a value of 1 and are using a Starting Number of 10001, new projects created from the EPT will have a unique Project ID that will be incremented by a value of 1 from the previous one. For example, the second project generated from the EPT will have a Project ID of 10002, the third will be 10003, etc..
Note: This step is optional as Project IDs are not required to create your EPT.

Select Create new projects as SharePoint Tasks List Projects if

Select a workflow from the Site Workflow Association list. Once you associate a site workflow with a project type and save the type, you cannot go back and update the type to use a different workflow.
Note: Note that if you selected Create new projects as SharePoint Tasks List Projects previously, this option will not be available to you.

Select a project detail page from the New Project Page list. This is the first page that users will see when they create a new project in the Project Center through the EPT.
If you previously selected No Workflow from the Site Workflow Association list, select the project detail pages that you want to include in this project type from the Available Project Detail Pages box, and then click Add to move them to the box on the right.

If the enterprise project type that you are creating is the one that all new projects should use by default, select the Use this as the default Enterprise Project Type during Project Creation check box.

Click the button next to the Departments field to select the departments that you want to associate with this project type, if it is appropriate.

If you want to associate an image with this project type to display in the new project menu, provide the URL for the image in the Type the URL box.

In the Order section, choose whether you want this project type to appear at the end of the list of project types, or if you want to control its placement in the list.

In the Site Creation section, select when a project site is created for your new projects. You can choose to:

Automatically create a site when the project is first published will create project sites automatically for new projects when they are published.

Allow the user to choose lets the user choose to create a project site for their project on publish.

Do not create a site will not allow the user to create a project site for their project.

In the Site Creation Location section, you can specify the location in which your project sites will be created in the Location URL field. Project sites will be created as subsites in the specified location.
Note: If you decide to create your project sites outside the PWA site collection, you will not be able to synchronize your user permissions or SharePoint Tasks Lists.
Note: This section will only be visible if your PWA enabled site in Project Server permissions mode. See Change permission management in Project Online to learn more about permission modes and how to change it.

In the Synchronization section:

Select Sync User Permissions to give work resources for the project access to the project site.

Select Sync SharePoint Tasks Lists to copy tasks to the SharePoint Tasks List in your project site. Only project sites that are created inside of the Project Web App site will synchronize.

In the Site Language section, select the default language in which your sites will be provisioned from the Default site template language list.

Select a template from the Project Plan Template list, if it is appropriate.

Select a template from the Project Site Template list, if it is appropriate.

Click Save to save this enterprise project type to the server, thus making it available for new project or proposal creation.
