Educator's guide to Insights in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams for EducationInsights in Microsoft Teams uses at-a-glance data views to help educators track their students’ Teams activity, from assignment turn-in to engagement in class conversations. With spotlighted datapoints and visualizations to keep educators informed on trends in student activity and growth, the Education Insights dashboard is designed to save you time in planning, giving feedback to students, and providing help where needed.
Insights is available automatically as a tab your class team. Adding the Insights to your app bar provides an overview page of all your classes.
: If you get a message that your account has opted out of Insights, your IT admin has turned it off. Contact your IT Admins, and ask them to enable Insights here.
Insights is automatically available
Navigate to Insights from any class team by selecting the Insights tab.
Add the Insights app
To view an overview of all your classes in Insights, add the Insights app.

From the app bar in Teams, select More added apps.

Search for Insights in the search bar, then select it.

Select Save.

Pin Insights to your app bar: right-click on the app icon, then select Pin.
Insights protects your data
Your data is secure in Insights. Each report is only available to class owners, and only includes student learning activity within Microsoft Teams.

We don't collect data from: private chats, OneDrive files, or sign-in information. Find out more about the privacy standards Insights meets, including GDPR and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

We do collect data related to meaningful learning activities: assignments, channel posts, meeting attendance, and editing class files.
