Merge calls in Microsoft Teams

חל על
Microsoft Teams

You can merge calls in Teams in a few different ways.

Make a new call and merge it with an existing call

While you're on a one-on-one or group call, you might decide you want to ask someone else a relevant question.

You can make another call while you're still on the first call. When the second call connects, you can merge it with your first call.

Note

The first call is automatically put on hold when you make another call. Or you can go to the call controls and select More actions Generic Ellipsis button  > Hold to take this action before making another call.

When the second call connects, go to the call controls and select More actions Generic Ellipsis button  > Call merge Merge calls icon .

Merge an incoming call with an existing call

While you're on a call in Teams, you might receive a call from another person or group and decide you want to merge the new call with the call you're already on.

When you accept the new call, your other call is automatically put on hold. Then you can choose to merge the new call with your first call.

Go to the call controls and select More actions Generic Ellipsis button  > Call merge Merge calls icon .

Consult and merge a call into a meeting

While you're in a Teams meeting, you might need to quickly consult with someone before bringing them into the conversation.

You can make a consult call directly from the meeting, speak with the person privately, and then merge the call back into the meeting when you're ready.

  1. From the People tab in the meeting, type a phone number or search for a contact in the Invite someone or dial a number field.
  2. Select More actions (...) > Consult and merge.
  3. Speak with the person on the consult call. When you're ready to bring them into the meeting, select Merge.

After the merge, the participant appears in the meeting roster and audio continues for everyone.

Tip: If you need to reach someone behind an IVR or auto-attendant, select the Dial pad icon during the consult call to send DTMF tones (0–9, *, #) and navigate the menu. The dial pad is available only during the consult call - once merged, it's no longer shown.

Note

  • Call merge isn't available for shared line calls made by a boss and delegates.
  • You can use call merge to add a user behind an IVR to a group call: make a new one-on-one call to the IVR, use the DTMF dial pad to reach the target user, and then merge the call with your existing call or group call.
  • To consult and merge a call into a meeting, the meeting organizer must have an Audio Conferencing license or a PSTN license. Events, webinars, and town halls aren't supported.
  • The dial pad is available only during the consult call. After the call is merged, the dial pad is no longer shown.
