Personalize your note output with templates

Customizable templates use a combination of text and AI prompts to create clinical summaries based on your documentation style and preferences. These AI-powered templates speed up your documentation and ensure you get the right output and format for your clinical notes.

  • Templates are available for the Allergies, Physical Exam, and Assessment and Plan sections.

  • Each of the sections contains a default template. You can choose the default template, modify it to better suit your specialty or workflow, or build your own.

  • It is possible to process a customizable template for a section even when no content for that section is discussed. 

  • Once designed and saved, these customizable templates can be applied on-demand or set to auto-run.

  • All AI features in DAX Copilot are built on a responsible AI framework, ensuring a foundation of trust.

Important: Customizable templates utilize generative AI, making it difficult to predict how the AI will perform in every scenario. It is essential to review the generated content to ensure it aligns with your expectations, then make any necessary edits.

Why use customizable templates?

Dragon Copilot's customizable templates have many benefits:

  • Time-saving: Customizable templates reduce editing time, streamlining documentation.

  • Flexibility: Adapt or create templates to fit your workflows and documentation styles.

  • Personalization: Adjust templates to meet individual needs and adhere to best practices.

  • Ease of use: Apply templates as needed or set them to auto-run for improved efficiency.

  • Standardization: Use templates to implement organizational standards, ensuring consistent clinical documentation.

Note: The features and functionality available to you may vary based on your organization's configuration, language settings, and whether you are using the web, mobile, or desktop app. Contact your organizational admin to confirm feature functionality availability. 

If you occasionally need to use specialized formatting for a specific type of encounter or circumstance, you can design a customizable template and apply it to the note section as needed - without setting it as the default format.

To apply a customizable template on-demand:

  1. Open the Note tab.

  2. Select library icon library beside the Allergies, Physical Exam, or Assessment and Plan note sections.

  3. Select the customizable template. (The note section will regenerate in customized format.)

  1. Select settings icon gear icon beside the Apply my style button to display the Style section in Settings.

    • To expand the side panel, select the arrow icon in the upper right corner.

  2. Navigate to the Allergies, Physical Exam, or Assessment and Plan note sections. The customizable template option appears at the bottom of the section

  3. Modify the template according to your needs.

Modify the text or prompts, if necessary, then apply your customizable template to the individual section using the method above until you achieve the desired result.

Important tips for testing

  • Avoid applying a customizable template repeatedly to the same note section without restoring or regenerating the note.

  • Restore a previous note version from the Version history before you re-apply a modified customizable template.

  • If Auto-style is enabled, revert to the original note or the last note version before Auto-style was applied before testing the customizable template.

  • Use split view to display Note versions side-by-side.

  • When you're satisfied with the outcome, select Sync to EHR, and consider whether to select the customized template as your default format option for that section in the Style settings screen.

If you select a Customizable template as the default format for one or more note sections (defined in Settings > Style & format), you can apply them automatically or on-demand along with your other personal style preferences.

Options:

  1. Enable Auto-style in Settings to apply your template(s) and other style settings to every note DAX Copilot generates.

  2. If Auto-style is disabled, select the Apply my style button to apply all your style settings on-demand.
