Why you should edit in DAX Copilot
DAX Copilot’s AI tools to save you time when you add or revise note content in DAX Copilot before finalizing the note in Epic.
DAX Copilot offers two ways to update your note:

Add another recording to capture information that you want to add or revise. When you add a recording, DAX Copilot automatically generates new clinical summaries and sends them to Epic.

Edit directly in the Note tab in DAX Copilot. While editing clinical summaries in the Note tab, use Split View and leverage DAX Copilot’s AI to generate insights, provide guidance, or display the transcript of your recordings for reference.
Add a recording before you edit
The easiest way to add or clarify the information in your note is to add another recording in the DAX Copilot activity in Epic Haiku or Canto.
When you add a recording, you can speak naturally instead of dictating exact words. DAX Copilot will update the relevant summary sections and automatically transfer the updates to Epic, saving you time.
Important: Complete all recordings before making any "manual" edits in DAX Copilot. You can restore any edits you made in DAX Copilot from the Version history after adding a new recording (see below).
How to edit your note in DAX Copilot
Launch DAX Copilot in Epic

Locate a DAX Copilot SmartSection in your Epic note.

Select the ellipsis
Note: You must create an ambient recording before the Actions menu icon appears.
Edit the summary sections
Select the Note tab, then type, copy, paste, or dictate your edits in any summary section. Your edits are automatically saved in DAX Copilot.
Important: Always select Sync to EHR when you finish editing in DAX Copilot to ensure any "manual" edits you make transfer to Epic and appear in your Epic note.
Quick manual edits
You can make two quick edits in DAX Copilot: Change pronouns and Apply my style. Each edit creates a new Note version, which appears as Current in the Note and Timeline tabs and in Version History.
Change pronouns
Select a preferred pronoun from the list of options to quickly update pronouns in the summaries and generate a new Note version.

The Change pronouns to button is available at the bottom of DAX Copilot and at the top of the Timeline tab.
Apply my style
Use Apply my style to regenerate your SmartSections in the format you prefer. Refer Configure your note style in DAX Copilot for Epic to learn more.

After you Apply my style, a new Note card appears at the bottom of the screen and on the Timeline tab.
Compare note versions and make additional edits
When the style formatting and content in the SmartSections look good, select Sync to EHR and return to Epic and finalize your note.
If necessary, select Restore to revert back to the previous version of the note, modify the style settings and try again before editing, then select Sync to EHR.
Important:

Any manual edits you make in the current note will be overwritten if you restore to a previous version. To restore those edits, they have to be manually copied back into the current note before selecting Sync to EHR.

If you make any edits to the DAX Copilot SmartSections in your Epic note, updates from new recordings or manual edits you make in DAX Copilot will not "sync" and appear in your note unless you delete and add the SmartSection(s) again.
