Microsoft uses age verification to help ensure that people only access content that's appropriate for their age, in line with local regulations. If you try to access or purchase 18+ or adult content, you may be asked to confirm your age before continuing.
How to verify your age
You only need to verify your age if prompted during sign in, but some countries/regions are offering a proactive direct approach. See the list below.
- Follow the links provided or scan a QR code if shown.
- Different countries/regions have different age verification partners. Choose one of the available verification options. Choose one of the available verification options, such as:
- Age estimation (selfie)
- Government ID upload
- Approved digital identity service
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete verification.
Note
Once completed, age verification applies to both your Microsoft account and Xbox account. If verification isn’t completed successfully, you’ll be prompted to try again.
