Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows and Surface Hub support Miracast for wireless screen sharing when enabled by your organization. Miracast lets you project your Windows laptop screen to the room display without joining a meeting or using cables.

Example scenarios include:

  • Present slides or documents without cables

  • Use Extend mode to keep presenter notes private

  • Share demos or videos locally without starting a meeting

  • Present in ad‑hoc or offline scenarios in the office

Note: Miracast is part of the public preview program and might undergo further changes before being released publicly. To get access to this and other upcoming features, switch to Teams public preview.

Before You Begin

Make sure the following are true:

  • You are using either a Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows or a Surface Hub with a Teams Rooms Pro license

  • Miracast is enabled by your IT administrator on the meeting room device

  • Your Windows laptop supports Miracast

  • You are physically in the meeting room, and the room display is turned on

If Miracast isn't available, use Teams Cast or a wired HDMI connection instead.

Things to Know

  • Miracast shares screen video only. System audio behavior may vary by device.

  • After pressing Windows key + K Windows may display an option to Allow mouse, keyboard, and other input from this device. This setting controls whether people can use touch, pen, mouse, or keyboard input from the room display to control your laptop.

  • DRM-protected‑ content (such as content from some streaming apps) may not display correctly.

  • Performance depends on room hardware and wireless network conditions.

  • If the desired meeting room does not appear on your laptop's Cast panel, Miracast may not be enabled for this room by your IT admin.
