"Unable to complete this transaction" error message
"Unable to complete this transaction. Please update to the latest version of Microsoft Store" error message
If you see an error message that says "Unable to complete this transaction. Please update to the latest version of Microsoft Store" while attempting to complete a purchase, redeem a code/card, or activate a digitally attached product with your new device, you will need to update your app or device to the latest version.
Update Microsoft Store on Windows

You can click the hyperlink within the message "Update to the latest version" to get to your Microsoft Store Library. Then select Get updates, or

Click the link below to open the Microsoft Store app and select Get updates.
Update Xbox console
Make sure your console is up to date at Settings > System > Updates.
Update the Xbox app on your PC
You can click the hyperlink within the message "Update to the latest version" to get to the update screen. Then select Get updates.

To make a purchase or send a gift
Purchase from our online web Store

Start by visiting microsoft.com/store. Select Search in the top right-hand corner and type in the product you want to purchase.

Your results will be displayed and click the product to get the buy page to complete your purchase on the web store.

If the product is giftable, you will see the option to also send the item as Gift by clicking on the gift box icon.
For redeeming a code/card
If you are unable to redeem your code/card through the app you can redeem on the web instead.

Visit www.microsoft.com/redeem.

Sign-In or Ensure you are signed into the Microsoft Account/Gamertag you wish to redeem on.

Enter your code and follow the prompts.
For digitally attached Subscriptions/Games that came with your device
