Smart Impression is a feature in PowerScribe One that uses generative AI to automatically draft the Impression section of a radiology report. It analyzes your dictation style and clinical content to generate draft impressions and recommendations that match your dictation style, helping you save time and reduce cognitive burden.
Note
By default, Impression (M) - Manual Smart Impression is selected.
Different methods to generate Smart Impression
- Select the Impression(M) button located below the Report Editor screen.
- Right-click on the Report Editor screen and select Generate Impression.
- Use the voice command Generate Impression.
- Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+1.
- Use the dropdown arrow and select Auto to generate automatic impression - Impression (A).
Note
- When using Automatic Smart Impression, the system generates the draft impression only once. Any changes made to the body of the report afterward will not be reflected unless you manually regenerate the Smart Impression.
- Review the generated draft Impression for accuracy. If edits are required, follow report editing best practices.
Smart Impression scenarios
Smart Impression will generate a draft impression and place it within your report based on the following scenarios:
- If you are dictating a report using an AutoText without an Impression field, Smart Impression will automatically add a Text Field named Impression where the generated draft impression will populate.
- If you are using an AutoText with a Text Field named Impression, the generated Smart Impression will replace any default or dictated text within the impression field. Any dictation outside of the field will remain.
AutoText best practices for use with Smart Impression
The following are AutoText related best practices and recommendations for use with Smart Impression.
Within an Impression section of an AutoText, use a single Text Field named Impression, Conclusion or Summary. This will ensure a consistent user experience and will be the location where the system will place a generated Smart Impression. Avoid field names like Field 1 or Field 2.
Note
If there are multiple Text Fields present under the Impression section, Smart Impression will populate the first field labeled Impression, leaving the others untouched.
Avoid numbering within the Impression section to prevent unwanted formatting.
If an AutoText is missing an Impression section, Smart Impression will add an Impression section header, a colon and the generated draft impression on the next line in a newly created Text Field.
Some AutoText might include standard plain text beneath the Impression section. Smart Impression will not replace or modify this text.
