Use settings to control how Dragon Copilot generates clinical notes. Adjust these options to improve structure, level of detail, and consistency.
Changes apply to future notes and are saved automatically.

Set your specialty
Your selected specialty affects how Dragon Copilot generates notes.
To update your specialty, go to Settings
> Profile.
Select the specialty that best matches your clinical practice.
Tip
If your notes don't match your expected format or level of detail, confirm that your specialty is set correctly.
Choose default templates and documents for patient sessions
To select templates and documents, go to Settings
> Templates > Default templates.
Choose which templates and documents are included automatically when you start a patient session.
- Note is included by default.
- Other templates and documents, such as Referral letter, can be selected and added to your workflow.
Use this setting to control which content is created automatically during documentation.
Tip
Enable additional templates and documents only if they're part of your regular workflow.
If you forget to select the documents you want to generate before recording, you can still generate them. Select the documents in Settings
> Templates > Default templates or select Manage default templates from the document index on the patient page, and then add another ambient recording for the patient.
Configure how notes are generated
To configure note settings, go to Settings
> Templates > Note.
Control note structure and formatting
Use the following settings to control how notes are organized and formatted.
- Transfer headings to maintain structure across systems.
- Date and Time to control how information appears in your note.
- Patient pronouns to improve readability.
These settings help ensure your notes are clear and consistent.
Adjust the level of detail
Use More concise to control how much detail is included in your notes.
- Select a more concise option for shorter documentation.
- Select a less concise option for more detailed notes.
Tip
If your notes contain unnecessary detail, enable More concise to streamline your output.
Apply style automatically
Use Auto-style to apply your selected style settings automatically.
When enabled, Dragon Copilot applies your preferences each time a note is generated.
Tip
Enable Auto-style to reduce manual steps and maintain consistency.
Apply additional instructions to your notes
Use Prompt to apply a saved instruction after style is applied.
This setting enables you to:
- Add consistent instructions to your notes.
- Standardize how content is generated.
- Apply additional formatting or wording preferences.
Note
The selected prompt runs automatically after your style settings are applied.
Adjust section-level preferences
You can also adjust how content is handled across different parts of the note.
Use these options to refine how information is organized and presented.
