Video recap in Microsoft Teams

Video recap in Teams is available as part of Microsoft 365 Copilot, an add-on license that provides additional features to make Teams meetings more personalized, intelligent, and secure. To get access to an eligible license, contact your IT admin.*

Catch up on key conversations and moments from meetings with Microsoft Teams video recaps. After a recorded and transcribed meeting ends, Teams generates a narrated highlight video that captures presented content, real video clips, and discussion from the meeting.

Video recaps aren’t currently supported on Teams for mobile devices.*

Watch a video recap

To watch a video recap in Teams:

  • Select Recap in the meeting chat after the meeting ends. Select Video recap.

  • Select a past meeting in your Teams calendar and select View recap.

Video recap requirements

For a video recap to generate after a meeting:

  • The meeting must be between 10 and 90 minutes long.

  • The meeting must be recorded and transcribed.

  • The meeting must have cloud recording enabled.

Storage & limits

  • Video recap data (highlight metadata, audio clips, and captions) is stored as alternate streams on the original Teams meeting recording file in SharePoint/OneDrive.

  • Video recaps consume minimal SharePoint/OneDrive storage.

  • Video recaps are stored alongside the original recording; no separate files are created.

Are video recaps available for all meetings?

Video recaps require cloud recording and transcription to be enabled. They’re generated automatically for eligible meetings—check with your IT admin for availability in your organization.

Can I share a video recap?

A video recap is part of the meeting recap. Anyone with access to the recording can view the video recap. Share the meeting recap with people that you want to give video recap access to.

How long does it take to generate a video recap?

A video recap is generated available 10 to 15 minutes after the meeting recording and transcription are successfully uploaded. Timing may vary based on meeting length.
